We're looking for an Estimator (Preconstruction) to own scope development, pricing, and pre-build clarity for residential remodeling projects. This role partners closely with leadership, sales, and production to ensure projects launch cleanly, profitably, and without surprises. This is not a sales role. You will not be responsible for closing deals. Your value is accuracy, clarity, and disciplined preconstruction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed scopes of work for residential remodeling projects
  • Create accurate, defensible estimates based on drawings, site conditions, and design intent
  • Evaluate trade pricing and validate assumptions
  • Identify scope gaps, risk areas, and cost drivers before contract execution
  • Prepare clear, professional estimate documentation for internal use
  • Partner with sales to support pricing clarity (without selling)
  • Work with production to ensure scopes align with field execution
  • Participate in preconstruction and handoff meetings
  • Answer scope and pricing questions during project launch
  • Maintain organized estimating files and historical pricing data
  • Update estimates as designs evolve
  • Use CRM/estimating systems consistently and accurately
  • Support continuous improvement of estimating standards and templates


Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of residential remodeling or estimating experience
  • Experience estimating residential remodeling or construction projects
  • Strong understanding of remodeling sequencing, materials, and labor
  • High attention to detail and comfort with complex scopes
  • Ability to think critically about constructability and risk
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable collaborating across departments
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Experience with estimating and project management software
  • Familiarity with design-build environments
